The Novel The Falling Man <\/em>by Don De Lillo, which is strictly interwoven with the historical event of the 11th September 2001, plays a crucial role in the issue\u2019s opening essay by Fran\u00e7ois Hartog on temporalization of time. The strength of the 1958 essay by Ladislaus Boros on temporality dimensions in Augustine, appreciated especially by Paul\u00a0 Ric\u0153ur in Temps\u00a0 et\u00a0 r\u00e9cit<\/em>, lies in binding them to fundamental existential categories, like disintegration, anguish, \u201cbanning\u201d and \u201cnight\u201d. Even though from different perspectives, Fran\u00e7ois Dosse and Silvana Borutti reflect upon the epistemological nature of the event and its new \u201crenaissance\u201d, after the death sentence once decreed to it by the Annales<\/em> School. Borutti develops also important epistemological reflections about both the historical writing and treatment. Beginning from the 1967 famous essay Le Discours de l\u2019histoire <\/em>by Roland Barthes, the \u201cspeech\u201d is the guiding thread of Silvano Facioni, whereas inspired by a Giambattista Basile short story and a correlated historical chronicle Dario Giugliano deals with the foundation itself of the historical writing. In a widest perspective of theoretical reflection and in an operation of subtle historiographical survey from Aristotle to Leibniz, the essays by Aldo Masullo and Bianca Maria d\u2019Ippolito respectively are the \u201cmetaphysical section\u201d of the issue. Through the analysis of the Michel de Certeau\u2019s masterpiece, La Fable mystique I<\/em>, Rossana Lista deals with the crucial question: what is the meaning of \u201cbeginning\u201d? Finally, also the issue editor holds Certeau in consideration, in the attempt of understanding whether, through the notion of Meistererz\u00e4hlung<\/em>, namely archetypal telling, historical time and mythical time are, after all, the same thing or not.<\/p>\n
